A Little Help From My Friends?

Hi Lovely Readers,

Thank you very much for taking time out of your business (or slacker) schedules to visit my blog. I don't know who you all are, but its very much appreciated all the same. I kinda like the mystery of it to be honest. But the point of this post is not just to send thanks though. I am requesting some blog type help in that I am running low on inspiration on ideas at the mo and help is needed!
Basically you can help in two ways:

  • reply to this post with ideas for a Top 5.
  • if you are feeling particularly creative, maybe you would like to write your own post. It can be on any topic. Just email it to becauseisayso@live.co.uk when you are done.

Thanks again for reading,

Corkette :)

Living In A Material World, And I Am A Material Girl.

Top Five: Things I Want Right Now.

This is a list of things that are not necessities to my life, but I want them all the same. Mostly because I think they are cool (though I am most likely incorrect in this view) and that is the only reason for my wanting. If any of you happen to win the lottery jackpot and wish to be a generous donor to fund my frivolous needs, it would be most appreciated.

5. Smeg Fridge in Pink.

4. Customised Nikes.

3. Nintendo 3DS.

2. Green Cambridge Satchel bag.

1. Beats By Dre Headphones (haven't settled on a colour yet).

No Need For Nervousness, It's Just A Little Turbulence.

Top Five: Things About Aeroplane Adventures

To me, it doesn't feel like the holiday has begun until you have made it through all the airport departments and are on the plane. Then it is time to relax.

5. The Views.
I have rarely had the chance to be in the window seat whilst flying, but they are (obviously) the best seats on the plane. I like it when you fly through thick clouds and emerge out the top on a sea of cotton wool.

4. Leaving Home.
As I am not a high-flying business person, going on a plane means just one thing - I AM GOING ON HOLIDAY!

3. Coming Home.
If you happen to have had a (slightly or mightily) traumatic holiday, sometimes it is nice to back in the plane and know that soon you will back in the land of (relative) normality.

2. Air Hostesses.
Not only do you get a warm greeting when you arrive, but they bring you drinks and food treats throughout the journey. They even allow you to do a bit of shopping should you require it. And hopefully not let you die if the plane plummets to the ground.

1. Movies.
Any excuse to sit back and watch a film is good by me. You must have noticed. It is most exciting when there is a vast array of recent films to chose from and catch up. It is like having your own personal DVD collection in your seat. Which is a bit like being at home though, to be honest.

I Remember When Rock Was Young, Me and Fifi Had So Much Fun

Top 5: Songs That Remind Me Of Reading Festival

I have had a bit of a moan in the past about Reading Festival and how much it hates me, but there have also been really good times - these are the five songs that remind me of those times. Also, to save repetition later, my friend known as The Music Guru was with me when all these events happened. And most likely The Welsh Boy too.

5. Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl?
Running into the tent and dancing like a loon while leaving the bags with someone else. Good times.

4. Cobra Starship - Snakes On A Plane
In a street teaming effort, we had to deposit some rubber snakes around the site in promotion of the single. I am not convinced we had much of an impact in the sales of the single, but we did leave a rubber snake on a condiments table and then ran away.

3. Dizzee Rascal - Fix Up, Look Sharp
As referenced before in a post on mosh-pit style experiences, this was one hell of a dance party! Which may have happened on two occasions, or I could be remembering it incorrectly.

2. Feeder - Buck Rogers
This is gonna sound like a random memory, but this song reminds me of needing to go the lovely toilet facilities during the Feeder set, dancing in the seemingly endless queue and then taking what felt like forever trying to find where I started in the first place.

1. Taking Back Sunday - Error:Operator.
We met TBS at the signing tent and one of them said they liked my T with a teddy on it. I have chosen to believe this was sincere and repeat this fact on a regular basis. I also love that we always get really excited about this song and no-one else does.

I Feel Like A Hero, And You Are My Heroine.

Top Five: Superheroes

From someone who has never read a Comic Book that wasn't the Beano or Dandy.

5. Human Torch.
It says a lot about how many times I have watched the two Chris Evans and co films that even my Mum knows what I am talking about when I reference it. The Human Torch is my favourite of the Fantastic Four not only because he is played by Chris Evans (I have mentioned him far too much already), but that I smile every time he shouts 'Flame On!'

4. Iron Man.
His suit is ridiculously cool and shiny. His is super rich. He is witty. He is Robert Downey Jr.

3. Wolverine.
Okay, so he doesn't get a fancy costume, or even an alter ego. But he does have Adamantium claws, which is pretty cool. He is also a bit of a grumpy old man.  And he is Hugh Jackman. I'll stop that now, I promise.

2. Batman.
Whether it is super serious or cheesy and camp, Batman is always a winner. Even if I don't understand why he has such a deep voice when in costume.

1. Spiderman.
He can fly. Sort of. That is pretty cool. He is still a teenager. That is pretty cool. He is very skilled at taking out Scientists who have undertaken unruly experiences. That is pretty cool. He is now played by Andrew Garfield. This post is getting far too repetitive.

Rwyf Wrth Fy Modd Caerdydd

Top Five: Places In Cardiff*

5. Cardiff Castle.
You can walk through the castle walls and dress up in military gear. Amazing.

4. Millennium Stadium.
I have only been inside once (to see Take That!), but every time I spy the roof from afar, I get really excited.

3. Cosmeston Lakes.
Feed the ducks. Play in the park. Run away from Swans. Family fun for all!

2. Clwb Ifor Bach.
Possibly the hottest, sweatiest gig venue ever created. But always full of enthusiastic listeners.

1. Cardiff University.
I have never attended the actual learning part of the building, but have been to so many good gigs in the two venues there that I have lost count.

*not including my former housemates house. Also, there is going to be a bit of a theme.

Shake Those Hips In My Direction

Top 5: Musicals

5. On The Town
Firstly, any film that features both Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly really needs to be seen. On The Town is the story of three naval officers who are on leave for just one day in the Big Apple, and hilarity, love and, of course, singing and dancing ensues. I remember I first saw this film was back in my post-drop-out, slacker days, and the last time was to get me in the mood for my holiday to NYC.

4. Hairspray
I'm not gonna lie, I only took in an interest in the movie of this because a certain Mr Efron was in it. This will be a shocking fact to precisely zero percentage of anyone who has already read a post on here before. I once went to Sing-A-Long-Hairspray with my Mum and I LOVED it. If you have never been to one before, they play the movie on a screen, with the words coming up on the screen for the songs, but you are also provided props for each song to dance with. It is a-ma-zing!

3. Sound Of Music
I had this on VHS when I was a young-un and watched it again and again and again and again, much to the delight of my family members. I maintain that it has educational value though, as it taught me important life lessons such as all the musical notes, Nuns will hide you from the Nazi's, clothing can be made from unwanted curtains and it is not socially acceptable to summon children using a whistle.

2. Lion King
Considering I don't own this film, and don't recall us owning it when I was little, I don't know how I have managed to see it as many times as I have. Back when I was a particularly cool Primary School attendee, me and my friend used to sing the songs on the coach on the way to swimming lessons. If you haven't seen the stage show, you really, really should. You will laugh, sing and even cry a little bit.

1. Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Back in the days before the VHS over-use and the coach entertainment, I had the cassette of this and I am fairly certain that other than Take That, it was the only thing I listened to. I still own the tape now (with Jason Donavon singing), a VHS starring Donnie Osmond and have also gone all high tech and have downloaded a copy on iTunes. Just in case that doesn't make me seem obsessive enough, I have also been to see the stage show starring Lee Mead. I bloody love this musical!

3. Fight For This Love - Cheryl Cole

2. Rolling In The Deep - Adele

1. SexyBack - Justin Timberlake

Why Do You Have To Be So Cute?

Top Five: Things That Make Me Go 'Awwwww!'.

5. Super Smiley Sports Folks.
They seem to be a bit of a rarity sometimes, so if there is no-one I am supporting in a 'Wooo! GB!' kind-of fashion, I always route for the smiliest one. A particularly good time to coo at smiley athletes is in the line-ups on the track before a race.

4. Baby-Sized Shoes.
They are just so tiny! Converse and Ugg Boots are the best.

3. Marriage Proposal Acceptances.
Doesn't matter if it is in real life or not. One of my personal favourites was at Wembley Arena when Paramore called a guy and his girlfriend up on stage so that he could propose to her in front of a sell-out crowd, which was then followed by the band serenading them. A cynical person could suggest that she only accepted under peer pressure, but I prefer to think more optimistically than that.

2. Little Kids in Tae Kwon-Do Doboks.
Every Thursday as the Leisure Centre, little children are dressed in their doboks ready for their martial arts training. Normally the tops are too big so they look really baggy, and it kind of looks like they are in their PJs.

1. Baby Animals.
Surely everyone loves baby animals, right? I can't limit it down to any one particular animal. but unless they are an insect, I'm probably going to think its cute.

Is It Cos I'm (Un)Cool?

Last Five: Things I Paid For On iTunes.

And a YouTube vid to demonstrate my level of uncool (just in case it is currently in doubt).

5. Blur - The Best Of Blur

4. Justin Bieber - Believe
There is really no excuse for this.

3. Kelly Clarkson - Stronger

2. Maroon 5 - Overexposed

1. Aiden Grimshaw - Is This Love?

Let's Get Physical

Top Five: Gym Related Things

5. Perving Potential.
Not a sole reason for attending, but one of the perks.

4. Quiz Shows.
The gym which I attend has 4 TVs to chose from, and one of which is bound to be showing at least one Quiz Show for you to play along with. My personal favourite is Pointless, but the one with the giant 2p arcade machine is a close second.

3. The Drive To The Gym.
Pretty much without fail, always attended by my Gym Buddy. Its a good time for us to either have a whinge about work related matters, or for me to force her to listen to something cheesy and/or age inappropriate and then laugh at the disapproving face I get in return.

2. Weight Loss.
Although no massive changes have been made, this was the whole point of going in the first place.

1. iPod Time.*
I am very unlikely to complain if there is an opportunity for me to put on a pair of headphones and turn the music up really loud. Failing that, playing the Scott Mills Daily Podcast always makes me giggle to myself, and although I risk looking like a crazy person, it does make the time go faster. Sometimes too fast.

*other MP3 players are available. I just don't own one.
